Just a quick note to let you know that if you have been wanting to try either the Premium Weekly Menu or the Food Ministry Menu (for Angel Food MInistries™ food boxes) but wanted to see them first, now you can. The sample Food Ministry Menu is from the February food boxes, so if you have some of the items left from that box you might even be able to use a recipe or two. Meal Recipes
Notes for meal:
- This meal is enough for 4-6 so double or triple if your are having a lot of guests. The grocery list will reflect the recipe as shown here. You will need to edit your grocery list depending on how much you make.
Chili Mac
- 1 lb. browned ground beef (from freezer)
- 1 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes
- 1 onion, chopped and sauteed(from freezer)
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped and sauteed
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 can red kidney beans, drained (you may use cooked dry beans to save money)
- 1 packet chili seasoning
Combine all ingredients in a stock pot and simmer for 2-3 hours. Serve over cooked elbow macaroni.
Cornbread
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 cup flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 can corn, drained
Preheat oven to 425°F. Put half of the olive oil in a 9x9x2 cast iron skillet and preheat in oven without burning oil. Mix all remaining ingredients in a bowl. Pour batter into preheated cast iron skillet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until done.
Snack Recipes
Notes for Snacks:
- If you do not have any browned ground in your freezer be sure to add some to your grocery list.
- The trail mix is really easy to make according to your taste preferences. Just add quantities based on what you like.
Cheesy Beef Dip
- 1 jar Cheese Whiz
- 1 lb. ground beef, browned (from freezer)
- 1 (28 oz.) jar salsa
Thaw browned ground beef. Combine all ingredients in a small crock pot or medium sauce pan. Heat thoroughly and stir until well blended. Serve with tortilla chips or Scoops.
Trail Mix
- Raisins* or Craisins
- Cashews
- Dry roasted peanuts
- M&M's candies
- Sunflower seeds
- Pretzels
- Whole Grain Cheerios
- Banana chips
Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Dip
- 1 can white chicken meat (substitute crab for even better flavor)
- 12 oz bottle of Franks Hot Sauce (or whatever type you prefer)
- 2 -8 oz packages cream cheese
- 16 oz bottle Ranch dressing
- 16 oz Monterey Jack or Cheddar Cheese*, grated
Dippers:
- Celery
- Tortilla Chips
- Scoop Chips
Combine all ingredients in a slow cooker and cook until bubbly. Serve with celery sticks, crackers, scoop chips, and/or bagel bits.

Sliced Veggies and Dip
- Ranch dressing
- Cauliflower, 2 heads
- Celery
- Cucumbers
- Broccoli bunch
- Carrots
Clean and slice veggies and serve with Ranch dressing.
